Obama takes heat for "Lipstick on a pig"

I'm not taking sides on the presidential race in this forum, but this whole controversy over Obama using the phrase "lipstick on a pig" has got to be the most transcendentally stupid moment of a presidential campaign that has often wallowed in silliness.

Does anyone really think Obama was calling Sarah Palin a pig?

"Lipstick on a pig" is common proverb for trying to dress up something unpleasant with a quick paint job. Anyone can certainly disagree with Obama's characterization.

But sexist? Insulting? C'mon...

I think "Terrorist fist jab" and "B Hussein Obama" still have this one beat on the "transcendentally stupid moment" scale, although coming from the candidates themselves gives it a bit of a higher profile. The "McCain was ogling Palin's breasts" was pretty dumb, though funny.

This is up there, though.
