Woodburn — The newest stretch of what will be a four-lane highway between Fort Wayne and Toledo, Ohio, has opened.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland took part Thursday in a ceremony opening the U.S. 24 section at the spot where it crosses the state line near Fort Wayne.

The rest of the highway in Indiana and the stretch from Napoleon, Ohio, to Toledo are scheduled for completion in 2012.
