need: wedding reception location ideas
i know this is hella short notice, but my fiance and i are looking for a place to hold a wedding reception LATE on july 19th. we are having a 7pm ceremony so a dinner is out of the question and we only wanted hours de vooooors anyway.
but we are kinda poor (in reality, we are lower middle-class, but dont want to drop a grand on some place to hang out for a few hours)
do you know of a place that can handle 80-90 people on a saturday night that would allow outside catering and stay open past 11? on the near north or north-side of indy?
please tell me you do.

That's a tall order, I'll ask around though.
Downtown I've seen events that size happen in Jillians, that's a thought. Most banquet halls and what not are going to charge a pretty penny for the honor, I'm having trouble thinking of anywhere I've shot a wedding reception that doesn't charge and arm and a leg.
Have you thought about renting a large tent and having it outside?

What is your budget. There are some great places....you've got 80-90 people. What are you prepared to spend? I'm thinking a park with a bonfire and lights in the trees but most parks close at dusk.
You might try India Palace off of Lafayette Road. They have a large banquet hall, are open late, and are probably fairly reasonable on price.
thanks all four of you for responding. ole girl found our place today - its totally going to work; the price, the time, the locale. its pretty much perfect.
and yes, we have a photographer. its one of the first decisions we made and we didnt even fight about it. now if all of the rest of the decisions could be as easy....

To the originator of this post or anyone else, I am in the same predictament and I am looking for a reception venue, as well that allows open catering. But inside. Not out. Can anyone help?

I do a lot of receptions/rehearsal dinners in the Holiday Inn Express (I know it doesn't sound fantastic, but the rooms really are beautiful and easily accesible from I65) Greenwood and Beech Grove.
