Background/schooling: Bachelor’s degree, Ball State University; master’s equivalent, Indiana Wesleyan and Ball State universities.
Why did you become a teacher: I have enjoyed working with children for as long as I can remember.
What goals do you have for your students: When my students leave my classroom, I want them to have a love for reading as well as be independent, strong individuals.
What do you encourage parents to do at home to help their children strengthen particular skills: I encourage all parents to set aside a particular time every night for homework. This time is better right when they get home from school. This reinforces the importance of schoolwork, even when at home.
Name your favorite movie: “Pretty Woman.”
Name your favorite musician or band: Rascal Flatts.
What’s something your students might not know about you: I too attended Hamilton Southeastern Schools, where I graduated in a class of 147 students.
