Why did you become a teacher: I really admired my teachers growing up and loved to learn, and I would pretend to be a teacher when playing. My second-grade teacher influenced me the most, and it’s funny how I’m now teaching second grade, too. She still teaches today — and in the same township I now work for. I was able to write her a letter to thank her for all she’s done and means to me. I hope one day one of my students will contact me when they’re all grown up to let me know that I’ve made a difference in their life.
What goals do you have for your students: My goals for my students are to achieve high expectations and to become the best citizen they know how to be.
What do you encourage parents to do at home to help their children strengthen particular skills: I encourage parents to assist their children in doing homework, play math games and read to them every night.
Name your favorite movie: “Ever After” or “August Rush.”
What’s something your students might not know about you: I have a song for everything!
