Mark Your Calendars for WFYI's "Let's Meet PBS KIDS in the Park" Free Family Festival
Before the thrill of basketball fever subsides, the trees turn a lush green and another school year draws to a close… Make plans to join WFYI Public Broadcasting for its signature summer celebration — Let’s Meet PBS KIDS in the Park — Saturday, June 27 from 10 am – 4pm, in a beautiful downtown Indianapolis park setting located in American Legion Mall & Veterans Memorial Plaza. Admission is free.
Presented by Riley Hospital for Children and Marsh Supermarkets, this one-of-a-kind family festival unites children and parents face to face with the cuddly and colorful characters that we have all come to love and admire most on PBS. The celebration features an all-star entertainment lineup on two distinct stages, plus engaging activity booths, bounce houses, walkaround characters from your child’s favorite PBS KIDS programs, a food court and much more.
Opening ceremonies begin at 10 am with a colorful walking procession of PBS KIDS characters, clowns and local mascots through the festival venue. Families will want to arrive early to catch the parade. This year’s celebration will feature Word Girl, Maya & Miquel, Curious George, Clifford, Martha Speaks, Sid the Science Kid, along with everyone’s favorite Sesame Street walkaround characters. Visit wfyi.org for updates on the festival’s entertainment lineup, PBS KIDS character appearance times and directions to the venue.
Let’s Meet PBS KIDS in the Park is WFYI Public Broadcasting’s gift back to the community. Each year, nearly 40,000 people attend this wholesome family celebration, which boasts an array of educational activities that reflect WFYI’s on-going commitment to make all young children ready for entry into school.
