Police are looking for a male suspect seen running from the area with a handgun after the shooting.

Before the shooting, police said Hawkins and his girlfriend had been setting off fireworks.

Hawkins apparently left the area to buy more fireworks, and his girlfriend returned to the apartment. When she came back out to check on him, the woman found the wounded Hawkins lying on the ground.
