Madison The city of Madison is toasting its Victorian-era heyday this weekend during the historic Ohio River city’s annual Lanier Days festival.

Festivalgoers will hear thundering cannons today as Civil War re-enactment groups fire artillery on the hour.

Also, musicians will perform 19th-century songs, and professional storytellers will spin some old-time tales.

This year’s festival features a new event called the Historic Trades Fair that will be held on the grounds of the Lanier Mansion, a state historic site.

Visitors there will see artisans demonstrate 19th-century trades.
