Alex Lloyd , the 2007 Firestone Indy Lights champion who has made two IndyCar Series starts, will compete in the No. 06 Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing car in the season-ending Firestone Indy 300 on Oct. 10 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The race will mark Lloyd’s second race this season after having competed in the Indianapolis 500, where he qualified 11th and finished 13th.

Lloyd, the only driver to win on both the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course (Firestone Indy Lights in 2006) and oval (Firestone Freedom 100 in ’07), won eight of the 15 races en route to the ’07 Firestone Firehawk Cup, including a victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway after starting second.

Lloyd also won five poles, finished in the top five 13 times and led 399 laps during his title-winning season.
