Little 500 picks up partying pace with Ludacris, Young Jeezy and more
Once a year, an annual bicycle race turns a small college city upside down. Little 500, also known as Little Five at Indiana University in Bloomington, is approaching, and the excitement is building as word spreads of the national celebrities who will attend.
The event has grown into a weeklong list of festivities. The week is being kicked off with the tree-huggers’ holiday: 4/20.
That particular Monday marks the highly anticipated launch of Dope Couture’s limited-edition 4/20 T-shirt. Dope Couture is a clothing line and store established by IU students as a class project that grew in popularity and turned into a true brand. The shirt is inspired by rapper Wale, who will autograph shirts during a meet-and-greet at the Dope Couture store before his concert at Jake’s.
Following the celebration of cannabis consumption, there are countless events, officially and unofficially associated with the Little 500. Soulja Boy will host the tailgating party before the race at the IU tailgate grounds. Disturbing the Peace artist Ludacris will be visiting IU that week, in the parking lot of Alpha Kappa Alpha and Alpha Tau Omega fraternities.
Young Jeezy, fresh off his Recession Tour, will be in Bloomington for a performance at Sigma Alpha Nu.
Bloomington is only an hour away, and for something fun and different, it might be worth the trip. In staying in tune with the namesake of this column, the latest, hottest events have to be “leaked” to our readers, regardless of the few extra miles it may take to get there.
