Louisville right-hander Sam LeCure starred on the mound as well as at the plate Sunday night in a 7-0 victory over the Indianapolis Indians.

LeCure (10-8) blanked the visiting Tribe on two hits over seven innings while striking out seven and not walking a batter. He is 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA in three starts against the Tribe this season.

He also had a two-run single in a seven-run sixth.

Tribe right-hander Yoslan Herrera had a two-hit shutout through five innings.

But Louisville sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth, scoring seven runs — all with two outs — on five hits and four walks. The Bats had seven hits for the game.

Ryan Hanigan walked and Wes Bankston singled with one out to start the sixth. Todd Frazier flied out, but Chris Valaika followed with an RBI single to chase Herrera.

Reliever Jeff Sues walked Lew Ford to load the bases, then gave up a two-run double to Michael Griffin. LeCure added a two-run single and Hanigan a two-run double.

McCutchen Tribe MVP

Right-hander Daniel McCutchen (13-6, 3.47 ERA) was named the Tribe’s Most Valuable Player. He led the club in starts (24) and strikeouts (110 in 1422/3 innings).
