A 10-year-old Beef&Boards Dinner Theatre actress will soon make her Broadway debut.

Kara Oates of White River Township will be one of 12 ballerina girls in the Broadway show “Billy Elliot.”

The 2009 Tony Award winning musical written by Elton John is a musical about the son of a coal miner.

The boy dreams of becoming a ballet dancer, even though his father wants him to become a boxer, said Patricia Rettig, Beef&Boards spokeswoman.

Kara played the lead roll in the Northwestside theater’s production of “Annie” this summer.

If she is not yet required to be in New York, Kara is scheduled to return to the Beef&Boards stage for “A Beef&Boards Christmas 2009,” Rettig said.

The Christmas show opens Nov. 27 and continues through New Year’s Eve.
