James M. Shelton
NOBLESVILLE — James M. Shelton, 70, Noblesville, died Oct. 30, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Shelton retired from Inland Fishers Guide Division of General Motors after 29 years of service. He then worked for Barber Manufacturing.
He was born April 15, 1939, in Orwell, Ind., the son of Floyd and Edith Walters Shelton.
He was a 1957 graduate of Orwell High School, and a 1963 graduate of Anderson College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was married to Vicki Sherley Shelton who survives him.
Mr. Shelton was a member of East Side Church of God. He was involved with Habitat for Humanity and participated in Servanthood Saturdays. He served on two mission trips to Africa and hurricane relief in Florida and Mississippi. He also enjoyed working in the yard, tending to his roses and his 388 baby trees. He was a fan of NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Tony Thomas; grandchildren, Emma and Blake; several stepchildren and their families, including Toya and Aaron Jones and their son, Alex; several stepgrandchildren, including Ashley, Stephanie and Brooke Runyon; grandson, David VanDuyn; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Hal Olson; sister-in-law, Rachel Shelton; several other extended family members; friend, Bill Rainey; and his Habitat Buddies.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Shelton; infant sister, Mary Margaret Shelton; and first wife, Nancy Turner Shelton in 1999.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home&Crematory, South Chapel, in Anderson. The Rev. Kerry Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
