ISO 'Prairie' Series has pop/rock flavor

Tributes to Frank Sinatra, James Bond and rock band ABBA will spice up the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's 2008 "Marsh Symphony on the Prairie" season.

The season, opening June 20 at Conner Prairie Amphitheater, 13400 Allisonville Road, will also feature ISO concertmaster Zach De Pue performing Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons."

Gates will open at 6.p.m. (except "Star-Spangled Symphony," at 4:30 p.m.).

Tickets go on sale Monday at the Hilbert Circle Theatre box office, 45 Monument Circle, and at Marsh stores. Single tickets are $19 for adults, and $10 for children in advance, $24 and $12 at the gate. Adult tickets for "Star-Spangled Symphony" are $24 in advance, $27 at the gate. June 20, 21: An ABBA tribute with hits such as "Mamma Mia."

June 28: "That's Amore," Neapolitan and Italian-American songs with tenor Eduardo Villa; Alfred Savia conducts.

July 2-5: "Star-Spangled Symphony," with fireworks. John Morris Russell conducts.

July 11, 12: Frank Sinatra tribute with vocalist Steve Lippia.

July 18, 19: A tribute to sports films including "Hoosiers" and "Rudy."

July 25, 26: Songs from classic James Bond films, with vocalist Mary Carewe.

Aug. 1, 2: Sean Newhouse conducts an all-Beethoven concert, featuring the Seventh Symphony and Shai Wosner in Piano Concerto No 1.

Aug. 8, 9: De Pue performs Vivaldi.

Prairie Pops: New Orleans Groove Aug. 15 and 16; Tommy Dorsey Orchestra Aug. 22 and 23, Classical Mystery Tour's Beatles tribute Aug. 28 and 29; River City Brass Band Aug. 30 and 31.
