A day before the national celebration, bus transit agency IndyGo and WIBC (93.1 FM) today are teaming up at Monument Circle for their “Dump the Pump” campaign.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Officials hope for a solid turnout, but interest probably cannot compare to last year, when the average price for the cheapest grade of a gallon of gas in Indianapolis was $4.13.
The all-time record was established June 15, 2008, when the per-gallon price was $4.15.
Today, the average in the city was $2.69, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
