Mudkids, underground Hip-Hop Group hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana consisting of MC Choc AKA Rusty Redenbacher, and DJ Elp-Mass. First came into the hip-hop scene with their debut album "4trackmind" in 1998, which blended smart lyrics with jazz influenced beats. The album was reminiscent of A Tribe Called Quest's early works, but with a Midwest style that only the Mudkids could bring. Such tracks as "Fool", "Rap Can Do", and "Freekya" stand out. "Fool" is possibly the best hip-hop love song ever written.

Two years later Mudkids released the "Upward" LP. With a newer sound, and progressively better flows and overall songs from the last album. Standouts include "Mudslidin" featuring Origin@l, and "1000000 + 1". The punchlines and clever style of the Mudkids shine through on the Upward LP.

In 2001 they released their last album "Higher". Mudkids put Indiana on the map for hip-hop and created an actual scene in the Indianapolis area, which to this day they continue to foster, nurture and lead.

Drive on down to Bloomington tonight (March 28th) to check out the all-ages hip=hop show at Rhino's Youth Center!
