I've never really checked out the Indianapolis City Market but I've been hearing some good things about it lately. Maybe the best way to get acquainted with the Market for the first time visitor is to take one of the tours offered by the City Market. Each tour begins out on Whistler Plaza, on the west side of City Market. Learn about the role of public markets in a city, the history of Whistler Plaza and the old Tomlinson Hall, and special events held at the Market. The Main Market House is the next stop. The essence of City Market, the Main Market House, was the original building where merchants would sell fresh produce, meats, and dairy products. The Q & A period concludes the tour. Tours average between 45 minutes to one hour. This includes the time needed to move around City Market and a question and answer period. Call for group pricing. For more information or to schedule a group tour, please contact Ann McWilliams at 317-634-9266 or at ann@indycm.com On Thursday October 9th from 9am to 4pm there will be a showcase of local green businesses and organizations who show by example how easy and rewarding it can be to "go green".
