Yoslan Herrera, Jeff Sues and Jean Machi combined on a three-hit shutout as the Indianapolis Indians defeated the Toledo Mud Hens 3-0 Tuesday night at Victory Field.

Herrera (1-0), in his second Triple-A start, gave up all three singles in his 51/3 innings. Sues went 22/3 innings and Machi pitched the ninth.

The Indians’ Jose Tabata doubled and Tagg Bozied walked with one out in the fourth inning. Larry Broadway singled to right, and Tabata used a hook slide to avoid the tag by Toledo catcher Dane Sardinha for the game’s first run. Bozied scored when Hector Gimenez ground into a force play.

Tabata walked to lead off the sixth inning and scored on Bozied’s double to center field.

“(Toledo pitcher Brooks) Brown had a good sinker, and with guys like that, you try to get the ball up,” Bozied said of his double in a news release from the team.

Etc.

The Pittsburgh Pirates called up 3B Neil Walker and RHP Virgil Vasquez from the Tribe. . . . C Erik Kratz (.280, 11 HRs, 42 RBIs) was named to the International League Postseason All-Star team.
