Wednesday, April 23, 2008, the Indianapolis Poetry Slam is back with a fresh vibe for National Poetry Month. The city's best and most talented spoken word poets gather to compete for top honors (but you already knew that). Did you know, though, that this month is also a celebration of life, unity and peace? In light of the almost scary happenings in and around our city (the latest being the bank robbery on the east side where a pregnant woman was shot), we wanted to remind everyone of the great city we have and the idea that it can be peaceful for everyone. Therefore, this month we are having a donation cover!! It's up to you how much you would like to give at the door. The money will go to the continuation of this slam. The Melody Inn has been very gracious and supportive in hosting our event. So come down and celebrate life with us. Bring your friends and family and we'll have a hoot of a time. See Nsaychable get on the mic to defend her crown (nee tiara) again! You may experience the great Allen Imagery as he spreads his words of wisdom like butter across the mic. And who knows, you may hear something you need to hear.
