BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Fred Glass ended any growing speculation about Bill Lynch’s future as Indiana’s football coach.

“If the question is whether or not Bill Lynch will be back as our coach next year, my answer is ‘Of course,’’’ Glass said today. “He’s in the second year of a four-year contract (that expires after the 2011 season), and like I said last November, contracts need to mean something again at Indiana University.

“More importantly than that, I think coach Lynch will be very successful and will continue to be our coach beyond the term of his current contract.’’

IU is 4-4 and needs two wins to become bowl eligible.

Glass admitted that he has received some negative feedback from fans and alumni regarding Lynch but quickly added, “but not as much feedback as I received about the music in the stadium after the first game.’’
