ZIONSVILLE — A new bridge on Indiana 334 will open to traffic this weekend in Boone County.

The road west of Zionsville, including a bridge over Irishman’s Run, will open during the late afternoon on Saturday, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The project included replacing the bridge, widening the lanes to 12 feet with a 10-foot shoulder, and elevating the road by four feet. Poindexter Excavating did the work for about $2 million.

Although the road and bridge will be open to vehicles, the contractor will continue to work on grading, seeding, laying sod and installing permanent pavement marking over the next two weeks, the release said.

While work continues, drivers may have to slow down and experience minor delays, and will have to follow directions given by flagmen, the release said.

Reduced work-zone speed limits will be enforced, and drivers should not only follow the posted signs, but also beware of workers in the area, the release said.
