The Indiana Court of Appeals affirmed a St. Joseph Circuit Court ruling in December that allowed Jasmine Watson , then a senior at South Bend Washington High School, to play basketball.

Watson, now a freshman at the University of Massachusetts, transferred from Elkhart Memorial to South Bend Washington before her senior year. The IHSAA ruled her ineligible, saying she transferred for athletic reasons. The court intervened.

The IHSAA appealed the decision, but the appeals court, by a 2-1 vote, agreed with the lower court. IHSAA commissioner Blake Ress said he was uncertain whether the organization would appeal further.
