I need Tofurky!!
OK, here's the deal: All three of my parents' daughters (two of them, incidentally, are my sisters) have relocated from Michigan to Central Indiana. Weird, right? I was here first, for the record.
At any rate, the parents are coming to us for Thanksgiving, so we're doing the cooking. I've spent a lot of time joking about how I'm going to make them Tofurky, and now I feel like it's necessary to bring some.
Vegetarians out there: Where do I get it? How do I make it? What does it look like? Is it good? Sure, I could ask the Googles about it, but I'd rather ask real humans!

And that’s why your father will die early of one of the many things- heart disease, cancer, strokes- that affect the Western meat-eatin’ male at hugely higher rates.
More intelligent humans realize they need to try new things and change some habits, like eating habits. They have control over their future.
Others cling to the bad habits and ignorance that kill them off early.
Maybe the later generations can learn some new tricks.

Hey, traderwind, Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Good day to prophetize death upon meat eaters, eh?
Anyone (carnivores/vegetarians/vegans/omnivores alike) can choose to be unhealthy in their eating habits…just as they can choose to be healthy!
For the record: I found Tofurky at Trader Joe’s, but thanks to my wait-til-the-last-minute personality, I waited until the last minute and they were all out of the Delicious Vegetarian Roast. I settled for the smoked lunch “meat” version. It was chewy, and not in the least bit pleasant. Only my mom had the giblets to try it, and she wasn’t super thrilled with it, either.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, Amy, but at least you tried something different.
And as for dying "early," there's so many variables involved in a person's life span that it's hard to pinpoint the role of vegetarianism. A meat eater who exercises and lives clean is usually going to live longer than a vegetarian who smokes and sits on their butt.
And genetics plays the biggest role. I have a buddy who eats lots of red meat and buys full-fat everything: milk, butter, cheese -- and his cholesterol level is like 110. I think about a ribeye and mine goes up six points.
