Hamilton Heights junior Jessica Carr has orally committed to attend Valparaiso University to play basketball.

Carr averaged 16.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.3 steals and shot 83 percent from the free-throw line and 37 percent from 3-point range as a sophomore. Valpo is coached by Westfield native Keith Freeman.

“I visited there Labor Day, and I know Keith Freeman has been interested in me for awhile,” Carr said. “It’s a great school. The team should be getting a lot better, and he’s building a program up there, so I’m really excited.”

Carr also visited Butler and said Loyola (Ill.) and Xavier had shown interest.
