"Hoosier History Live with Nelson Price!" premieres Saturday on WICR 88.7
Nelson Price, a local author, historian, and an old teacher of mine, will be premiering his new radio show this coming Saturday! I'd encourage everyone to give it a listen! Below are the details:
"Hoosier History Live with Nelson Price!" will premiere Saturday, January 12, at 11:30 am on WICR-FM (88.7), the public radio station based at the University of Indianapolis.
Underwritten thanks to the support of our friends at Barnes & Thornburg, "Hoosier History Live!" will be a live, weekly talk show focusing on all aspects of Indiana history, with in-studio guests, call-ins from listeners, Hoosier history trivia questions, and regular reports from The Road Tripper (Chris Gahl of the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Bureau) about events, fairs, festivals, exhibits and other Hoosier heritage-related happenings.
This culminates a process that began almost two years ago when Indianapolis radio producer Molly Head approached me about hosting such a show. Some of you have played parts, large and small, during the development process as Molly and I refined the concept, searched for a sponsor, and talked to various radio stations in the Indianapolis market.

Does WICR offer podcasts for those who will be out of range on Saturdays?

Ever since we were students together at IU, Nelson has always demonstrated a fascination with personalities behind the news. Having read his skillful news features, and having heard one of his recent talks on Indiana authors, I now look forward to hearing how he approaches radio. I hear one of the early programs will focus on the 30th anniversary of the Blizzard of '78. Since I was here for that adventure, I can't wait.
