The stars are jumping into the same-sex-marriage fray. California upheld Prop. 8 on Tuesday, which bans gay marriage in the state. Existing same-sex marriages, such as the marriage of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi last year, are allowed to stand. "One day when everyone is treated with full equality, we'll look back and realize how wrong this was," DeGeneres wrote on her Twitter page Wednesday. Here's what some of Hollywood's other heavy hitters are saying:

Television
• George Clooney to E!: "This just should invigorate people to get it back on the ballot in 2010 and 2012 and every two years until all people are allowed a basic civil right."

Miss California Carrie Prejean on Fox News: "So I'm not the bad guy! I'm glad the people in California got to vote on this and that the decision was made."

• Charlize Theron to E!: "I am deeply disappointed by the (California) Supreme Court's ruling on Prop. 8 today. I don't agree with homophobia or discrimination of any kind. I will continue to fight this fight for equality and speak up for the basic civil rights of all Americans."

Arnold Schwarzenegger on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: "This is not over, this decision, because I think they're going to be back in a year or two with another initiative trying to get it. Eventually it's going to be overturned, I'm sure."

Twitter
• Demi Moore: "There's no room 4 judgment it only creates separation i'm pretty sure we R all equal in God's eyes. luv is luv in whatever form! … Amazing the country that likes 2 pride itself on liberty justice 4 all can continue 2 fail certain groups!"

Perez Hilton: "Let us not be sad. We should be angry. In every state. We should be vocal. We should be equal! …Obama is really not there for the gays. He has repeatedly let us down. Sad. Sad. Sad."

Ashlee Simpson: "Twittering too much is not cool but equality is. California get it together!"

Kathy Griffin: "OF COURSE to the prop 8 rallies. What u got? Like I'm not gonna be there … Please! Don't insult my inner gay boy."

Web
• Rob Thomas in The Huffington Post: "I am a straight man, with a big gay chip on my shoulder. … A marriage is about life. It's about a commitment. And this argument is about allowing people to have the right to make that commitment, even if it doesn't make sense to you. Anything else falls under the category of 'separate but equal' and we know how that works out."
