Hansbrough has first Pacers workout
Rookie Tyler Hansbrough made his Indiana Pacers debut today during the team’s first summer league practice.
Hansbrough, the team’s top pick in last month’s NBA draft and No. 13 overall, was right at home providing energy in practice and playing alongside Brandon Rush, Josh McRoberts and Roy Hibbert, all of whom he faced while at North Carolina.
“I’m glad to be on the same team with them,” Hansbrough said. “They all do different things good. Hopefully I can help them.”Pacers coach Jim O’Brien put the team through a three-hour practice. He’s treating the four days of practice like the regular season because the roster features Hansbrough, second-round pick A.J. Price, Hibbert, Rush and McRoberts.“This is an important 10-day period of time for the growth of our young players and because the other guys we have around them are competing for jobs,” said O’Brien, who will coach the summer league team in Orlando next week. “We need to take every opportunity to grow the guys we know are going to be in uniform. This is a great 10-day window to be with them.”
