NOBLESVILLE — Hamilton County today announced its first H1N1-related death.

Hamilton County Health Department spokesman Tony Benge said a person in his or her 20s died. He did not yet have a specific age, gender, location, name or circumstances regarding the death. He said more information would be released as it becomes available.

Since June, H1N1 has claimed the lives of 12 Hoosiers, and a Kansas FFA member, who was at a convention in Indianapolis, died Sunday.

Her funeral was set for today.

The Hamilton County Health Department so far has received 18,400 doses of H1N1 vaccine, and has been distributing it to priority groups identified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Also today, officials in Allen County — which includes Fort Wayne — reported an H1N1 death, according to The Associated Press.
