Government Nonsense & Celebrity Support
Proposition 8 has passed. Now what? Do the same-sex couples that were married previous to its passage remain married with the same benefits and recognition? Or are they just out of luck?
There's one thing I haven't been able to understand for a long time. How can a government, that is determined to make itself and its rulings non-religious, make laws based on Christian morals? I'm not only referring to Proposition 8 though. I am also referring to the government having any control over whether or not a person can have an abortion. I'm not saying that I'm and for or against abortion, it's not about that. It's about the fact that the government has no reason for meddling in such personal situations.
I love that celebrities are speaking up about Proposition 8. Maybe they should be speaking up about a little bit more. Even they can't do anything; they might be able to bring awareness to those of us who can.
I recently heard that the marriages from before Proposition 8 are still in effect, which I am glad to hear. I haven't confirmed it, but the information came to me by a mostly reliable source. I am just glad to hear that this stupid proposition hasn't done as much damage as it could have. Hopefully, this means that it can also be reversed.
