If your fuel tank is low and you want to pay the cheapest prices, better get your fill.

Speedway stores in the Indianapolis area uniformly bumped prices up to $1.75, according to its Web site today. With 58 locations in the city, those stations can influence competitors.

The IndyStar.com Pump Patrol was still showing prices in the $1.40s and other good deals to be had.

And the average price for the cheapest gallon of gas in Indianapolis was hovering at $1.603, a drop of less than a penny from Thursday, reported AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The statewide average was $1.65 today, 18 cents lower than the national average of $1.83.

NATIONAL OUTLOOK: Prices see swing. Oil prices fell below $54 a barrel today as a gloomy outlook for global crude demand overshadowed expectations that OPEC might announce a production cut this weekend. Oil prices have fluctuated between $50 and $55 this week, pausing after a fall of over 60 percent since reaching a record $147.27 in mid-July.
