When I had cable, I was hooked on Top Chef. Just about everyone I know has some measure of interest in cooking since shows like Top Chef, America's Next Food Network Star, Rachel Ray and the like have made playing with your food both edgy and accessible. Unfortunately, cooking classes in Indy haven't been the easiest to come by. Corner Gourmet disappeared. And besides that, there really weren't many other options, unless one of the restaurants decided to do a class with a chef or something. But I recently heard about a new place that's doing both fundamental and specialty cooking classes, called Kiss Z Cook! I guess it just opened this month or something. Looks like classes are $75 and range from Meal Management to Cooking With Wine.

Check it out for yourself at www.kisszcook.com.

What's the best meal you've made with five ingredients or less? I'm trying to simplify. And thought, heck, since we're on the subject of cooking, who's got some good ideas?

I tend toward chicken breasts in lemon, garlic, white wine and butter. Easy, tasty, tender, delicious. Over rice and you're all set.

I have some cooking class suggestions for ya! Check out Lawrence Community Education : www.learningforyou.com Um, ok I admit - I'm the one teaching the cooking classes. I have a slightly different (and in my opinion much better) format. I demonstrate the recipes and then let YOU hit the kitchen and make it yourself. Class participants LOVE the ability to try the recipes on their own and put to use their newly learned skills. After the prep everyone sits down to a "buffet" of different meals/recipes, etc. Leftovers are always abundant and taken home by everyone to enjoy... Since you are trying to simplify - you may want to check out my "30 Minute Meals." They are quick, low ingredient meals with great taste that make you look like a Top Chef or Food Network Star at your own dinner table.
