Ft. Wayne foundry to close, cut 157 jobs
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Fort Wayne Foundry Corp. plans to close its production plant in that city in June, eliminating 157 hourly positions.
The company said today that it also would conduct a “mass layoff” in June at its Fort Wayne machining division, which had about 150 employees in mid-2007.
The company, however, did not say how many jobs would be affected.
The company makes aluminum engine parts and says the cuts are because of the downturn in the automotive industry.
