Zoobooks available from Humane Society

You can help both the Humane Society of Johnson County and the Indianapolis Zoo with the purchase of a 2009 Zoobook. For $25, you can buy a Zoobook from the Humane Society of Johnson County. It is filled with coupons, from pet supplies to dining and entertainment, and proceeds will go to the society and zoo.

While supplies last, you will get a 2008 book with each 2009 book purchased. Purchase five 2009 Zoobooks and get a sixth one free.

Zoobooks are available by calling the society's office at (317) 535-6626, Debbie Myers at (317) 535-7982 or by visiting any Humane Society event.

About the Shelter Without Walls Foster Program: The Humane Society of Johnson County does not have a shelter and cannot accept any animals. Animals are placed with foster families to await adoption.

To adopt: Adoptable pets are available for viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. every Thursday at the Humane Society of Johnson County Pet Center, 3827 N. Graham Road, Franklin.

Costs: All animals have been spayed or neutered, are current on vaccinations, microchipped and have been tested for heartworm or feline leukemia. If they tested negative, they are on monthly preventive medicine. The normal cost to adopt a dog is $125; for cats, it is $100.

Information: Go to www.hsjc.org and select the Featured Adoptable Pet link to see other animals available for adoption. For more information, call (317) 535-6626.

To volunteer: Foster parents are being sought. Send an e-mail to marianhsjc@ embarqmail.com for a foster parent package and learn what it's all about. Volunteers are also needed to help out with events or on a variety of fundraising and event committees.
