Former IU QB in legal trouble
Former Indiana University quarterback Kellen Lewis has run into legal trouble at his new school.
Lewis, who was suspended at IU and later kicked off the team for violations of team rules, is facing charges in Valdosta, Ga.
Lewis, the starting quarterback for NCAA Division II Valdosta State, was charged with battery on Oct. 15.
He has remained the starting quarterback for Valdosta State since his arrest.
“Kellen is a member of our football program, and the athletic department at this time has not taken any action in regards to his ability to participate,” Valdosta State athletic director Herb Reinhard said earlier this month in a statement.
“We are again carefully evaluating all the information we have and will base our decisions on that information.”
Lewis, who set numerous records while at Indiana, has thrown for 2,050 yards and rushed for 307 for Valdosta State (4-4).
The Valdosta State athletic department said today it will not comment any further on an ongoing legal situation.
