Midwest Airlines has informed state of Wisconsin officials that it will furlough 26 more pilots and 33 flight attendants in October, according to a published report.

The furloughs are part of the Oak Creek-based airline’s fleet transition from Boeing 717s to Embraer 190s, Republic Airways Holdings Inc. spokesman Carlo Bertolini told the Business Journal of Milwaukee. The Embraer 190s currently are operated by crews from Republic of Indianapolis, which acquired Midwest Airlines July 31.

Midwest said the furloughs are expected to begin Oct. 31, with further layoffs on Nov. 4 and Nov. 10.

The filing with the state comes two weeks after a previous mass layoff notice at Midwest warning of the furloughing of 40 pilots and 55 flight attendants among a total of 166 employees to be laid off.
