I want to thank the folks who have gathered each year on Sept. 11 at the bridge on 96th Street over I-69 in Fishers. They have never failed to remind us of those who perished and for the troops that continue to sacrifice for our freedom. I experienced Sept. 11 secondhand as I was in the air traveling to California at the time of the attacks.

I will always remember driving home from Colorado seeing similar patriots in Topeka, Kan., waving flags over I-70. It made a very long trip a glorious one. It is so great to see fellow Americans taking time out of their day to remember. I plan to join them next year.
