Fishers’ City/Town Study Committee is nearing the end of its assignment.

The group has heard several presentations on municipal government topics, from legal differences to economic development, so it can compile a list of the pros and cons of Fishers becoming a city.

Only one discussion topic – the intangibles – remains before moderator Steve Carter will type up the report and submit it to the group for review. The committee decided to cancel its May 27 meeting and hear its final presentation June 10.

The list of pros and cons will be sent to residents this summer in case the issue goes to a special election later this year.

For the first time since the committee began hearing presentations in March, its pros and cons list did not grow after Wednesday night’s meeting.

The group learned about accountability in municipal government from four presenters.

The presentations and question-and-answer session took a while, so the committee adjourned without updating its list like it always does at the end of its meetings.

Carter is not too worried that they ran out of time. He said he’ll pick out the main points of the presentations and questions and add that to the report for the group’s consideration.
