The (Fort Myers, Fla.) News-Press

Scented simmering pots are a fun way to add favorite fragrances to your home.

To make your own, fill a pot with a few cups of water, add your favorite ingredients, boil for a few minutes, then simmer. Add water as needed.

Ingredient ideas:

Dried lemon, orange, lime rinds or apple skins.

Spices, even expired ones, such as nutmeg and cinnamon.

Juices, such as apple or cranberry — use in place of water, or add juice to the water.

Flavorings, such as maple, lemon or vanilla.

Pine needles, or leaves fresh off the tree.
