Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Blair Kiel is scheduled to appear Thursday in Marion Superior Court to face charges of resisting law enforcement, domestic battery and public intoxication.

The 47-year-old Kiel, Fishers, was arrested Saturday at Victory Field after arguing with a girlfriend and fighting with police. He was released Sunday night from the Marion County Jail after posting $30,000 bond.

A report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the incident Saturday began with reports that Christy Rundle, 40, Noblesville, was in a restroom at the ballpark, crying and afraid to come out. Police found Kiel standing outside the restroom waiting for her and her child.

Police said witnesses reported that Kiel had grabbed Rundle’s arm and that he appeared intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, glassy eyes.

Police escorted Kiel toward the Maryland Street exit of the stadium and told him to leave for the night. However, Kiel was back inside the park a few minutes later, yelling at Rundle. He told police she was his girlfriend, according to the police report.

Police said Kiel shoved an off-duty IMPD officer working security at the game and Kiel again was told to leave.

Police said Kiel then fought with police, hitting an officer several times before police and stadium security could handcuff him.

Kiel was a standout high school football player in Columbus and started four years as quarterback at the University of Notre Dame in the early 1980s.

He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played with the Indianapolis Colts in 1986 and 1987. He also played in Green Bay, the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League before retiring at the end of 1993.

He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
