A former Indianapolis Colt faces new trouble with the law.

Chijoke Nwokorie was arrested on preliminary battery charges this morning by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The arrest followed an incident at a Downtown night club.

According to a printed police report, Nwokorie, 34, was arrested about 3 a.m. today at the Ice Ultra Lounge, 235 S. Meridian St. The report said police saw Nwokorie throw a woman to the pavement at the club’s doorway.

The report said police were told that the woman was trying to help a friend find a lost purse, and Nwokorie threw the woman to the pavement because he “believed that he would be better at helping to find the purse, and he did not want any assistance.”

Police noted that the woman was much smaller than Nwokorie, who was a
lineman for the Colts from 1999 to 2002.

Nwokorie was arrested in August of 2008 for criminal deviate conduct and sexual battery from an alleged assault on a woman in Broad Ripple.
