Dungy: Win against Titans a must or risk losing division
The Indianapolis Colts’ blowout loss at Green Bay on Sunday left coach Tony Dungy with one overriding message to his team:
Rebound or else.
The 34-14 setback dropped the Colts to 3-3 on the season, three games behind Tennessee in the AFC South. The Titans (6-0) are the NFL’s lone unbeaten team, and will put that unblemished mark on the line against Indy next Monday night in Nashville.
The Colts have won five straight division titles, but any realistic chance of making it six in a row hinges on bouncing back from the error-filled performance at Green Bay.
“Our players will watch the tape and they’ll see how good Tennessee’s playing,” Dungy said this afternoon. “I think we’ll know that if we don’t win this game we really won’t have a chance to win the division … unless the stock market crashes and they cancel the season. That would about the only way we could win it if we don’t win this game.
“We should have ourselves ready to play our best game of the year for sure.”
That wasn’t the case against the Packers. The Colts were penalized 12 times for 110 yards and quarterback Peyton Manning was intercepted twice, with Green Bay returning each for a touchdown.
