A 23-year-old man was shot in a drive-by shooting outside his home in Lawrence on Sunday night.

Troy Richardson told police that an older model, black two-door Cadillac pulled alongside when he was walking home about 11:30 p.m. on the 6600 block of East 46th Street.

Richardson said someone stuck a handgun out of the passenger side window and he started running. He heard a couple of gunshots as he fled through a backyard, then fell to the ground when he was hit in the shoulder by a bullet.

When Lawrence police arrived Richardson had made it to the living room of his home and his sister was trying to stop the bleeding from the gunshot.

Richardson was taken to Methodist Hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
