Fishers — Fishers’ City/Town Study Committee cannot seem to determine whether having a mayor would be a benefit of switching to a city.

Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas and Terre Haute City Council President Todd Nation visited Fishers to talk to the group about municipal governance. The committee is hearing presentations on various aspects of municipalities so it can report the pros and cons of becoming a city.

Costas and Nation praised Fishers for making good use of its resources and assured the committee that those resources will not vanish if the town becomes a city.

The group still has not found a conclusive answer to the mayor question, but it will move on to the topic of accountability at its May 13 meeting.

Its list of pros and cons will be sent to all residents this summer in case the issue of switching to a city goes to a special election later this year.
