Original cabaret
Shannon Forsell, director of the Cabaret at the Connoisseur Room, 127 E. Ohio St., is presenting an original show written by her former high school choral director.
Lynn Lupold wrote all the songs in “Enter Love,” whose cast includes Forsell, Deb Mullins, Kathleen Carter, Ron Hellems and Ron Morgan. David Duncan is the show’s musical director. Remaining performances are at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday.
The show’s 24 original songs include “Ask Me Now,” a finalist in the Song of the Year international songwriting contest that supports VH1’s Save the Music Foundation.
Lupold was musical director of Forsell’s first solo cabaret show in 1984. As choral director at Noblesville High School, she encouraged Forsell to pursue a singing career.

Bonhoeffer play
Oaklandon Civic Theatre will present a play about the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German Lutheran pastor who resisted the Nazi regime and was executed in 1945, tonight through Nov. 21 at the theater, 6450 Oaklandon Road.
“The Beams Are Creaking,” by Douglas Anderson , will be performed at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
As part of the Spirit&Place festival, the Rev. Dr. Don Sommerville, associate professor of the history of global Christianity at Christian Theological Seminary, will lead audience discussions after the Nov. 8, 13 and 14 performances.

Jazz in brass
Trumpeter Scott Wendholt will appear in the Jazz Artist Series at the DeHaan Fine Arts Center, University of Indianapolis, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Appearing with him will be pianist Phil DeGreg of Cincinnati, bassist Jeremy Allen of Bloomington and drummer David Scalia of Indianapolis.
Admission is $20 ($10 seniors, free for children 18 and younger and college students with ID).
Wendholt has played on more than 60 albums, including five as a leader. He has performed with such ensembles as the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Manhattan Jazz Orchestra and Carnegie Hall Jazz Band.
