Crux of problem is that university calls itself Catholic

I am in agreement with D. Mark Robertson’s thinking, as expressed in his April 7 letter, "Single speech won’t tear down others’ pro-life beliefs.’’ My disappointment comes when the president of a Catholic university decides that the pro-life component of its teaching responsibility can be set aside for an hour, a day or whatever time period needed, to allow a speaker a platform whose pro-life views and policies on abortion, Mexico City Policy, and medical conscience clause repeal are blatantly contradictory to those professed by the institution.

Are we not accustomed to hearing and believing that faith and action are intertwined? The point, as deemed more valuable, is that this speaker is President Barack Obama. I would agree that the university is a benchmark for learning. I take issue, in this instance, that it be called a Catholic university.
