•If at all possible, don't miss HBO's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (8 ET/PT), which takes a more serious turn with a touching episode sparked by a lovely performance from guest star CCH Pounder. But then "lovely" could describe this entire series, which finds beauty in everyday African life.

•For fans of Desperate Housewives (ABC, 9 ET/PT), of course, the must-see offering is the not-so-secret departure of Nicollette Sheridan's Edie Britt. At least she's getting a big send-off, as the episode allows each of the other stars to look back on Edie's life with something that may even approach fondness — on screen, anyway.

•It's a rare network movie night on CBS, as the Hallmark Hall of Fame presents The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler (9 ET/PT). Anna Paquin stars in the fact-based story of Nobel Peace Prize nominee Sendler, who is credited with saving thousands of Jewish children in Poland during World War II.

•Two series make their returns Sunday on USA. First up is Jeff Goldblum and Law Order: Criminal Intent (9 ET/PT), followed by Mary McCormack's In Plain Sight (10 ET/PT).
