Between attempts to save for big purchases (like a complete kitchen overhaul) and gas prices refusing to budge below $3 a gallon, I'd like to hear about some creative budget-cutting from this crowd.

How do you save money and still enjoy the lifestyle you like?

Eating out less. Costco. Being more aggressive about finding freelance opportunities.

Eating and drinking out less was the way for me. Cut the appetizer or split a meal with your significant other, most of the time it's too much food anyway. A nice side benefit will be the unexpected weight loss. Don't lose too much weight though, or you'll have to buy more clothes and that would be counterproductive to the whole cost cutting plan. One last thing, and I know it sounds goofy but look for coupons and other offers. They can add up in a hurry and will encourage you to try products or places you may have otherwise never discovered.

*drink water...I can't believe how much money some people spend on soft drinks for home and out. *use energy efficient appliances/light bulbs (of course buying new ones would cost money initially) *Buy generic for groceries *Bring your lunch to work (I guess that is eating out less)

Bring your lunch to work and bring your own soda to work. I can't believe how much my co-workers spend on eating out and buying sodas from the machine at work. It easily adds up to $200-300 a month that can save by bringing a cheap homemade lunch every day and bringing a couple cans of soda with you as well. Maybe a snack or two if you're the low blood sugar type. Never buy out of vending machines.

My lunch for the entire week at work cost me $6 total this week.

Use coupons at the grocery store. Don't forget that many grocery stores double coupons under a dollar and accept competitor's coupons.
