Trucker hurt in I-70 ramp crash

A milk truck driver was injured this morning when his rig overturned on the on-ramp to I-70 on the Near Southside.

Farrell Carraco, 51, Anderson, flipped the trailer on the ramp from McCarty to eastbound I-70 at 8:22 a.m., according the Rita Reith, a captain with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Sgt. Matthew Mount said the driver was going too fast and he hit the cement divider on the ramp. He \was trapped inside the cab when the truck overturned and suffered a cut to his head. He was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital.

Battalion Chief Dennis Musgrave said that 30 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the punctured gas tank and about 50 gallons of milk spilled from the trailer.

Traffic on the ramp was closed while the spills were cleaned.
