For the first time in its history, Conner Prairie will be open and free to the public Monday in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

"It's just a day of celebration, a day of community service," said Jennifer Tate Henderson, spokeswoman. "We thought it was important to give back to the community, especially during this important time in our country."

Several crafts will be offered inside the main building, and a video about King's "I Have a Dream" speech will be playing in the Lilly Theater. Outside activities will be limited to tours of the Conner House.

The Eatery will also be open with a limited menu.

Activities will go from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit Conner Prairie's Web site, www.connerprairie.org.
