Concert violinist Rachel Barton Pine to give free concert, master class at Butler
Internationally known concert violinist Rachel Barton Pine will give a free, public master class and lecture-recital on Saturday, Nov. 1 on the Butler University campus. Both will be in Room 124 of Lilly Hall
At her recital, Pine will perform a mix of Scottish, baroque, blues, jazz and Celtic selections. She plans to announce each piece from the stage.
A Chicago native, she has been an avid concert violinist and recording artist. Since her 1994 debut recording of music by Pablo de Sarasate, she has made eight albums on the Chicago-based Cedille label. One of the latest was a tribute to 19th-century American violinist Maud Powell.
This season, Pine is scheduled to debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, and perform with the Chicago Symphony and Dayton Philharmonic.
She performed with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra during the spring of 2002.
